Preparation Is Key

I come across so many people that say they don't have time for breakfast in the morning even though we hear all the time that it's the most important meal of the day.

The simple answer to this is, prepare it all the night before and whether you want a few extra minutes in bed or you're on the go it's ready for you.

So how do you have an already prepared breakfast?

Overnight Oats has rocked the healthy eating world by storm, but it really is a life saver! I go to the gym every morning before work so I dont have time for breakfast before because by 9am i'm starving again (and to be honest I dont fancy waking up any earlier than I have to) by preparing these I eat them as soon as I get to work and i'm ready to begin my day!

So what is it and how do you make it?

The world really is your oyster; it's simply layers of fruit, low fat/fat free natural yoghurt & porridge oats left in the fridge overnight. Use any fruit of your choice, layer it between flavoured or plain natural yoghurt and porridge oats (Recommended amount of porridge oats is 30g)

Obviously depending on your time of year will be dependant on what fruits are available making it ever the more interesting as it gives you chance to mix up your fruit salad and not get bored.

As we steer closer to the summer months, this week's fruit mixture consists of chopped Strawberries, Melon, Grapes & Peaches - I've also decided to go for Low Fat Strawberry Natural Yoghurt to add just that little bit extra flavour.

Layer 1 Tbsp of yoghurt, 1 Tbsp of porridge oats and as much fruit as you can get in for each layer - normally making 2 or 3 layers depending on the size of fruit. Leave in the fridge overnight and when your ready the next day your breakfast is waiting! That's all there is to it.

If oats really aren't you thing - dont be put off! Just dont add them, there's nothing wrong with a good old fruit salad for breakfast with a little yoghurt to add some flavour!

So remember, prepare them the night & you'll never skip breakfast again!

Let me know what different fruit's you like to use, i'd love to hear from you...

Have a great week everyone :)
